Southside Social and Barn Dance July 10-11, 2009

The Southside Social and Barn Dance is a yearly gathering of performers, families, craftspeople, musicians, artists, friends, anarchists, teachers, rural clans, urban escapees, and freaks of all kinds. Festivities begin Friday at 3pm. The Social hosts a variety of workshops, performances, a vendors area, a potluck kitchen, a bake sale/burrito bar/espresso stand, creek side swimming, and much more. We encourage you to arrive on Friday and camp through the weekend.

The Southside Social and Barn Dance is offered free of charge. However, hosting an event of this magnitude costs a pretty penny and we’re only able to afford it with your help. We need everyone to help offset the expenses by purchasing a t-shirt, making a donation, attending a work party, etc. All of the performers and instructors are here on a volunteer basis-purchasing a cd or t-shirt will help them with transportation costs. So…please oh please, plan to buy some shirts, coffee, or make a donation based on what you can afford to contribute. Thanks!

Yes!: Carpooling, camping, families, volunteers, community, fun.
No!: NO DOGS! campfires, or jerks.
Seriously, leave your pup at home. We have too many kids, too many crushable plants, and too many of our own animals to deal with your pet. Last year brought dog fights, dug up plants, stressed out ducks, and way too much dog poop. Please be a good guest and leave the pooch at home for this event. Because of past issues and too many people ignoring our request, we’re going to have to turn people with dogs away this year.

Friday, begins at 3pm: Wild Plant Walk, Homebrew 101, Farm Tour, Anarchists’ Union, Go Slowpoke , White Trash Compactor.

Saturday, begins at noon: Open Mic, Kid’s Circus, Plant Walk, Farm Tour, Flamenco, Bellydancing, Zach Michaud, Junkyard Amy Lee, Moonshine Missile, Sidestreet Reny, Jesus Chords, Post Apocalyptic Sideshow, Dandelion Junk Queens, Sandman the Rappin’ Cowboy, Lucky Devil Girly Show.
